Ive had one for a few years. Got it as a wee little thing, just two stems. We call it a Zanzibar plant.

They're ridiculously expensive over here, and now I know why-they're so ruddy slow to propagate!

They are pricey here too! For a plant about 20cm high cost $20!

They do take a long time to propagate. They are slow grower's. They also hate full sun and water. I'm lucky to water mine once a month even in 40 degree celsius. I also have mine in bright shade if that makes sense. they will strike just have to be patient

Cheers

I'd not a big fan of standard houseplant type aroids but this is the main exception, as you say they're far too expensive and I don't know anyone to steal leaves from, let me know when yours is a little older, larry ;)

Congrats, Larry! Please do keep us posted on your progress.

The also tend to be expensive here too.

I got lucky a couple years ago--was shopping for a plant for a Christmas gift exchange with a rather low price limit, and I found one at a big box store that had been knocked off the shelf, the pot busted, and the combination apparently run over by a shopping cart. Got a good price break, and by dividing it in half I had one for me and one for the gift exchange, and enough margin to get the other one a nice pot. It seems to be pretty happy, but it sure is slow growing!

Phil mate, I actually found this leaf on the floor in one of the display beds in Morissons. Next time I'm there and I find one I can send you one. I'll PM you if I get one, but be prepared for a looong wait to get a plant. Takes at least a year for the bulb to form, and the leaf to turn from green to yellow to completely dry. A major problem with this plant is overwatering. I killed the first one because the soil looked dry so I kept watering it. It just turned to mush. Was a bit more careful this time, but still got a long way to go.
