I am sad to say I had to have my old dog put down. He was in too much pain and could not see him go through any more. He lived up to his name Rastus and I miss him but it is better to be kind than cruel.

I got him when he was 6 weeks old and he was 16 recently.

Here are a couple of photos I took of him before his last car ride, which he loved :D

He was an old grey beard as you can see. When I come home now it is so strange not having him meet me

Oh Betty - I'm so sorry. Know only too well how hard that is, having lost one of my old-timers last fall.

I know this may sound like a broken record, & it may be too early, but do think about saving another grateful pup as soon as you're ready.

{{{betty}}} i'm so sorry for your loss!!!

what a cutie!! rastus had a good & long life with you. although he's no longer there to greet you when you come home, you have 16 years worth of happy memories to hold on to.

you showed him the utmost love by taking action to end his pain - it's a hard decision and i applaud you for putting his needs at the forefront!

One day I may get another one, but not in the near future as I will be moving house

I'm not sure what to say really, i'm sorry for your loss but glad that you can remain relatively upbeat at such a sad time. At 16 he certainly had a good innings .

btw, those eyebrows remind me of someone...

Ummmm I wonder who

Phil he did have a good innings and I have known for months that the time was coming so I kind of got use to the idea and it made it easier.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 16 year old Shih Tzu about a month ago. His name was Tech.

I haven't been over to this forum for a long while. So sorry to hear of your loss, Betty! I'll bet Rastus had a grand life with you! :?
