... the thing that gets you through your 8 hour day job is knowing that when 5:00 finally rolls around, you get to go home and stick your hands into a week's worth of old kitchen scraps so that you can mix up some worm food!!

Both myself and my indoor worms are chomping at the bit for warm weather. Ready to get out into the compost piles and turn everything over and to set up my second exterior worm bin. The main bin did really well this year despite all the cold weather. Made sure I piled it up with lots of manure, hay, leaves and of course lots of pumpkins from the neighborhood. The center of the pile stayed warm all Winter and the worms had a great time crawling through all that muck. Come April, hope to have tons of black castings ready to harvest and plow into my garden and sell.

And if anyone is in the Richmond area the weekend of April 30, Maymont is having their annual Herbs & More Flower Festival Saturday the 30th. I will have a booth there and hope to get lots of people stopping by to talk shop. Would love to see you there and swap notes with you on raising worms.

Have a great weekend everyone,

I hear ya on that one!!! I think I will do a happy dance when all this snow finally melts... We've had storm after storm this year and I'd give just about anything to be out in the garden scratching around pulling weeds, planting, or just digging through the sweet smelling compost in the outdoor bins. Honestly, I'd even settle for a sunburn or mosquito bites at this point....
On days like this I'm very VERY thankful for my indoor bins.... :)
