Mix the leaves & grass as I mow & bag.
Air pipes on the bottom.
Mix in the garden plants as I pull & harvest.
Spray on some water & mix in some old compost or almost done compost for the the "yeast"
Easy compost.
I'll mix it in the spring of 2012 (when it thaws) with some fresh green grass clipping to get it cooking again & it'll be a few yards "done compost" by Aug 2012

You've sure done well making your compost since you learned some tricks to help speed the process. It sounds like you'll have a good supply next year. We don't have enough leaves down for me to start filling my leaf bins yet.

I like the way you loosely used the term "yet" :)
My bin is filling up.
Getting behind schedule, lots to do this time of the year, get all the garden in, moose hunt, firewood, yard work & get everything ready for "freeze up".
Snow is working it's way down the Mts. I think summer is over!!!! :(

 Well...there are a lot of leaves overhead just starting to turn. Summer didn't arrive here until August, so they had a lot of cool moist weather for growing lush leaves. Some of the big leaf maples are just starting to turn.

I cheated a bought some chicken compost since I needed some to improve the soil in my vegie gardens. I got some on a couple of beds yesterday, then covered them with straw to keep the weeds down so I don't have the mess I had this year from last years neglect due to taking care of my mom. Hopefully she'll do better this winter like she did over the summer.

It's supposed to get up to 80 today, so I'll rake up some leaves for the kitchen scrap compost bin and I'll haul some more finished compost. They think this is the last summery day we'll have, but they said that a week or so ago too, when we had several warm days.
