Planted a little early & the wind damaged several plants but they are recovering.
Planted end of May thru June 1, Most seeds sprouted. Carrots not come up so i re-seeded & 2 days later I had carrots sprouting. I do that almost every year. Now I'll be thinning for a while.
Pic 6-1-11 everything is planted.

Awesome!

Dave, were you able to detect any difference between the boxes you painted black and those you didn't?

As we use to dress our self to look good same while we also use to renovate our home to make them perfect so we also need to make our garden renovation to make it a perfect look. As we all know whole view of a house starts with the beautiful gardens. If you feel that you like your garden as it is fundamentally, you may just need to put in a bit of effort to bring it back to its previous levels of beauty. A proper garden spring clean means more than just getting the lawnmower out. And the picture of your garden is awesome.

no difference in soil temps but heat radiates up to the above ground plants.
I think the wood insulates any heat to the soil, may put in some windows :)

Thanks MW

Awesome work of art you have their. By enabling to divide the plants on different boxes is a great idea. Much easier to extinguish and getting information about the plants and so.

Apart from the discussed problems, your photography art is amazing. There needs some proper care of your garden to make it look beautiful. You can't stop the natural issues like rain, wind etc but taking care of things like Bactria etc is must.
