I work in an Elementary School. They have a large raised garden that they hardly ever use. Every now and then, I get the idea to plant something just for fun. This past summer, I planted Pop Corn.

I didn't get to plant it until the second week of July. It was sprouting in just 3 days!! It has done very well!! Ears appear to be quite full.

Any suggestions as to how to dry it out? Usually it's left on the stalk to dry, but November is almost here!!

Also, should I remove the kernnels or I've heard some thing about leaving the corn on the cob, and popping it that way?

Anyone have experience with Pop Corn?

Jim

You can pick the ears and put them in a protected spot to dry out. Cold isn't a problem, but wet is. I haven't tried to pop corn off the ears, but you can strip it off and treat it like bulk popcorn.

A lot of the miniature Halloween corn is popcorn, last year I popped a bunch of it and made miniature popcorn. The kids really enjoyed it. It's easy to pop in a frying pan with some oil in it.
