I know there are several folks on here who are knowledgeable about Eastern snakes, can anybody help with the name on this one? There is a very muted pattern on it, sort of like a corn snake. I have not seen this one cruising across the pond, it always seems to hang out near the edge, but it doesn't fear the water either. We call this one "Charlotte's Snake" (wife's name) because she always looks for it, and heaven help you if you talk about hurting her snake. There are several of these around the pond, this is the tamest one. It will sit and pose, no need to hurry with the camera. Total length: about 3ft / 1 meter.

Northern Water Snake (Nerodia sipedon) They are very variable in their coloring, but the head is the right shape.

Thank you Mentha. I have rock piles near the water and lots of weedy area for them.
