One of my favorite trees this time of year with its white fragrant blooms. The fragrance wafts into the house through the open windows. Can't say enough good things about it.

Its not in that pot, is it? Or is that just a trick of perspective? I know I leave large shrubs in containers too long but surely not ...

LOL, no shrubs and bulbs. The tree is in the ground and the pot in front of it contains clematis socialis, two clematis hirsutissimas, and a clematis fremontii. That would be a trick if I could get a tree that large growing in a pot that size! A new form of bonsai!!!

That is one nice looking specimen. I have one too, but it has been a slow grower compared to all the other trees I've planted. I think the moles contribute to the problem.

Enjoy!

I have grown them for years. I had so many at one time I was cutting them down for firewood. The seeds sprout up all over for me and are considered a benign weed in my garden.
Here's one out my back door I pruned for the gnarly look. Picture taken in the Fall before all the leaves dropped.
