I can't speak to gaining new members, but perhaps keeping those who have already registered. Every forum has a magic threshold at which it becomes self-sustaining. Might be 20 ppd, might be 100, depends on the forum. My sense is that while this forum may have found that threshold at some point in the past, it has since been lost. All members post looking for responses. When their posts go unacknowledged, they leave. Until this place reaches that magic threshold at which most posts are acknowledged by other members, someone, preferably a forum moderator, needs to respond to and acknowledge most of the posts you get, or it will continue to spiral downward. It takes a certain personality type (overtly chatty & knowledgeable) with a lot of time on his/her hands.

Please understand, that suggestion reflects my own experience here, and I have never ventured into any forum section here, other than Cacti & Succulents, so take it FWIW.

Hello,

I agree with FWIW entirely.

I was a very regular participant with this forum but ceased to be so, precisely because I
like FWIW states, posted looking for responses without success, particularly as
the forum grew larger. When my posts went without reply I had to consider the point of it all. From memory on one (possibly the last post I made with many photos) I received something like 93(?) views and no responses. This may be innaccurate in that recollection. However I left as it seemed that few were interested in me or my posts.

Kind regards,

david d

Well, David in DU, you unfortunately stopped writing your exiting fiction stories
We also missed the many marvelous pictures of flowering Aloes during our summer/your winter, for example.

David, I miss seeing your lovely Aloes, as well as your great landscaping. Come back!

Hey Lucas,

now that the helm is changed you are in charge to make this Forum work at least as good as it worked before! And that means that we also want to receive e-mail notifications when somebody posted to our own thread or added a posting to a thread we also added a posting! :!:
Though notification is checked with 'yes' in the user control panel it doesn't work

Jordi

Hello,

Sorry it took a while to respond, I have had other things come up. I tested a fix and it was now working for me. Let me know if you have more problems.

Lucas

Notification till doesn't work for me, though 'Notify me upon replies by default:' is checked 'yes'.
Does the system knows my e-mail address at all? I can't find it mentioned or a possibility to add it anywhere.

Jordi

Go to user control panel, click profile and then click the submenu edit account settings. Double check that your email address is correct in the box.

Though there is my correct e-mail address mentioned and though I renewed it and confirmed with my password there again is no notification which should have happened for the 'Euphorbia grafting' thread.
