Sr. Alfonso,
That unknown succulent is no more - it's Kalanchoe x 'Kewensis', a hybrid that was made at Kew Gardens.
Sorensons, eh? Well, our own Mr. Kaktussy, who used to work at a San Diego wholesale nursery, would load thousands of plants from his business onto a truck that went to Sorenson's, where they would sell them across North America. I wonder if those plants are from Vista, CA?
It's too bad, though - you didn't get the glued-on rocks (El Glufer) that are typically part of the big box store plants!
It's a good haul, I'd say.
Saludos,
The Other Canadian Export

Even people in Canada love to grow cactus and succulents. Love the red in Mammillaria bombycina, but my favorite is Mammillaria spinosissima cv 'Un pico'. Nice cart jumpers

I was lucky to find here plants without glued flowers. They are present in Lowes. I did not buy anyone in Lowes for this reason. So this Sorensen greenhouses, grow cacti in California and they finished the packaging work in Canada.

Of course we Canadians like to grow cacti and succulents! It's just a bit more challenging for us! I saw a larger specimen of that Mammillaria spinosissima cv 'Un pico' at a big-box store here the other day, it almost jumped into my cart. I am tempted to go back and let it jump in! Most of the C& S I see here come form Sorenson's...

Nice haul .. and IMHO that Oreocereus is probably not a "trollii" ..

You are right Regulus, maybe is more "celsianus" than "trollii"

Alfonzo, Sorensen Greenhouse. Ruthven Ontario Been there a few times. Its a huge mass production for the BB stores. I have quite of few c&s that I've had for years and still enjoy from Sorensen and its amazing to see so many greenhouse of plants that we love to grow. The best way I can describe it is its a lot like puppy mill but instead its a plant mill. they are famous for the glued on straw flower just to sell to people that do not know any better. As for Mr. Kaktussy, he must of fell into something big because we have not heard from him in some time. Time to report in Marco.
